By using Guide to Tromsø ("the App"), you agree to these terms. The App is operated by Naturguiden AS (Org. no. 932 891 956 MVA), Norway.
Acceptance of these terms
The first time you open the App, you are asked to confirm that you have read and accept these Terms of Service and our Disclaimer. If you do not accept them, you should not use the App. Continued use of the App after that point constitutes ongoing acceptance of the then-current version of these terms.
Use of the App
Guide to Tromsø is a free companion app for aurora hunting and exploring Northern Norway. You may use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to misuse the App, including but not limited to:
- Uploading inappropriate, illegal, or offensive content
- Impersonating others or misrepresenting yourself
- Attempting to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Reverse-engineering or circumventing security measures
User-generated content
When you upload aurora sightings, you retain ownership of your photos and content. By uploading, you grant Naturguiden AS a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display, distribute, and store your content within the App and its associated services for the duration your content is retained (up to 90 days).
You are responsible for the content you upload. You confirm that:
- You own or have the right to share the content
- The content does not violate any third-party rights
- The content is appropriate for a general audience
We reserve the right to remove any content at our discretion, particularly content that has been reported by users or that violates these terms.
Aurora forecasts and information
The App provides real-time aurora forecasts, weather information, and location suggestions based on data from third-party sources (MET Norway, NOAA, and others). This information is provided "as is" and we make no guarantees regarding its accuracy, completeness, or availability. Content and data shown in the App may contain errors, be delayed, or be temporarily unavailable — we may update or correct it at any time without notice, but do not commit to doing so.
Aurora hunting involves being outdoors, sometimes in cold and remote areas, and sometimes travelling significant distances — including toward the Finnish or Swedish border — chasing better conditions. You are responsible for your own safety and for any travel decisions, costs, or plans you make based on information in the App. Naturguiden AS is not liable for any injury, loss, damage, travel expense, or missed sighting resulting from the use of information provided by the App. See our full Disclaimer for details.
Third-party services and content
The App includes listings of tours, events, and places operated by third parties. Naturguiden AS is not responsible for the quality, safety, availability, or accuracy of these third-party offerings. Bookings and transactions with third-party operators are subject to their own terms and conditions.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Norwegian law, Naturguiden AS shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the App at any time, without notice, for conduct that violates these terms or is harmful to other users or the service.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Any disputes shall be resolved in Norwegian courts.
